@MrRaySixx Thanks for being a fan, we could use more of those. I played the trombone smear "melody" and it was so much fun to play it every single time even when my lips were bright red at the end of games.

@HoustonCougarRed I can't breathe when I go to Houston, too much pollution. Anyway the ripoff came in the 20s as "She'll be loaded with Peruna when she comes." Peruna was a cough remedy during prohibition that had a little(lot) alcohol.

@36demo Peruna is the fight song(and the mascot but that's not for discussing here). Pony Battle Cry is just that, a battle cry. I was in the band and PBC was written by the director Irving Dreibrodt in 1964, Peruna was a jazz adaption of a similar song and was introduced as the fight song in the late 1920s. The football team at halftime cleared the bench and cheered when they heard it for the first time.

It really isnt our fight song. Pony Battle cry is.

Hey isn't that just fast version of Coming Around the Mountain? If you're going to have a fight song at least do better than ripping off some children's song. Jeez!

Best fight song in all the land
I'm, maybe, the only mexican fan of the mustangs, and I can't describe this feeling that I have every time I listen Peruna or Pony Battle Cry. Would give almost anything to go to the Gerald Ford Stadium.
