Here is a vbideo showing what the condition was of my new to me 613C Caterpillar scraper that i just bought from Appell equipment in Galva Illinoise. This machine was sold to me as being and i quote their salesman Larry Heil as being " This machine appears to be in ready to go to work condition, and i am confident you will be satisfied with it upon its arrival. I have only driven it about 300 feet from where they unloaded it off their trailer. Called then within hours of it arriving...next morning foirst thing and told Mr appell of the problem. 2 calls and several emails later, still no response back. Thier silence over the past almost 2 weeks tells me just what their intentions are. I am now paying interest on this piece of useless iron, and now get to spend about 5 grand more on replacing the motor so i can get it on the job i bought it for that i am now behind on starting. They sounded so nice on the phone, but then, i guess anything else would not have gotten me to send them $16,000.00 dollatrs for this piece of iron. My advice based on my experience....THINK TWICE before buying anything from Appells in Galva ill.

  • Isn't APPEAR TO BE a little different than IS WORK READY ???

  • A blind man with no knowledge of anything mechanicle could easly tell that engine was junk and in no way work ready. They knew they were being crooked with me and i was foolish enough to trust that a well established large operation like them got that way by dealing honestly with their customers. The fact that once i paid them for it and had them deliver it to me i never again could even get them to return a call or email. That alone speaks volumes as to the kind of people they really are.

  • 3208's shouldn't cost $5000, should be able to get a good used one out of a truck and just swap out the parts to make it fit. I am doing that with a 225 excavator I bought. The engine cost me $1200 and I had to pull it. But i heard it run first. Catually drove the truck. I keep spare engines foe all of my equipment. I have blown an engine on a tuesday and swapped out and back to work on friday. Oh yeah we swapped it out in the woods, had to clear a road to it with a backhoe!

  • I did finally find a good used engine a couplke weeks ago in california. Had a friend there that actually found it and checked it out for me...plus he pulled it out and shipped it to me. problem is this machine is a turbo 3208. the 225;s were non turbo and those are much easier to find on the used market. I also have a 225. Cost me $2000 by the time i got it here, and then another $600 to have the inj pump gone thru and setup to the original scraper specs as neither were correct otherwise.

  • Is this by anychance the same parent company that operates Appell Auto Recyclers in Galva ill? Maybe they just got this hauled in as junk by the ton and unloaded it as a usable machinery via interstate commerce? Larry Heil must be a real tool! Maybe we could have next years nation wide spring fling somewhere near to Galva Illinois??

  • Yes, they are the same company. It is my understanding that this large company has used heavy equipment sales, used truck sales, salvage / recycling business and a large farming operation. I guess the hundreds of thousands of dollars they are making thru all those businesses wasnt enough,,,they needed my $16000.00 dollars bad enough to lie to me to get it. That or maybe they are going broke from cheating people and cant afford to make a long distance phone call back to me.

  • well great dealer you got there that engine needs serious surgery looks like broken rings on a cyl thats definatly not work ready hope you find a satisfactory solution for it

  • Good luck ! E mail or call me and I will tell you haw to handle these pricks!

  • Why, that's lower that whale crap. If they won't even call you back then there must be something that they knew about the machine before you bought it. surstliuq had a pretty good idea there, maybe other organizations could join in for a "United National" spring fling. Pretty sure I could make it.
