I like to jam with talented musicians! :) I met up with Kawazu Awazili, the Drumming Raccoon, at Oklacon '09 in Roman Nose State Park near Watonga, OK, and he and I decided that our jammingness should be recorded. Thus, this video was made, and you may now behold its sweet, sweet jammitude! This little ditty features Kawazu on doumbek and myself on my Native American style walking stick flute (made by Dennis Fredericksen of NZT Designs). I'm not sure what was going on with the camera in the middle of the video, but it's the sound that matters, right? ;)

This was all an on-the-spot ad-lib, which made it more challenging and more fun. That's one of the things I love about playing with talented folks like Kawazu; even though we're not talking, we can still speak the same "language," as it were, and produce something like this. It's just plain fun. :)

  • Dude, that was so much fun! Music is the language of the soul and the sounds that we produced in this video are an ancient form of universal bonding. We must show this to everyone! By the way, the drum I used there is a doumbek, the larger wooden one I had was a djembe.

  • I knew that. :P Heheh. I hope to run into you again at another con someday!
