  • Hey when you finish the course you get out with a frozen ATPL. I know you can get hired with an fATPL but sometimes you need more hours that what you come out with. Is that not the case with OAA? How many hours do you actually come out with approx.? If you don't have enough, what would you advise as to get the hours?

  • @holylemonimthat Airlines can hire pilots from schools like OAA with fATPL and zero flight time hours experience - ie no professional flight hours/experience. This happens in the UK because certain courses are certified to deliver student pilots to the airlines in this way.

  • Hey, it looks like theres lots of reading involved XD

Ive just recieved a skills brochure for the course! I was just wandering generally, what is a JAA exam like? What sort of questions do they ask, as I understand there are 7 to take?

  • there are 14 exams in total. If you try the bristol queston bank (online) from "bristol groundschool" as a free trail you can see what the JAA exam questions are like.

  • Hey Mark, mind telling me how you financed your OAA training?

  • i went to the FLYER pilot show at the sofitel hotel at T5 heathrow, and there was people from all flying schools mostly Flybe, BA And oxford avation and the guy from BA told me that if i ever get a job offer takeit just like wht you said :)

you flying the a320 now or still on the B734? my uncle 'Nick Shar' flys the B767 AND B757 for ba do you no him? :)

  • Well I offered OAA the chance to take it over and run it themselves but they werent interested. sad.

  • Aww man, I was wondering where that went, it was very nicely made. That website was a pretty at giving people a better understanding of OAA.

  • If you dont pass an exam then you fail it and have to resit it. Unfortunately the exam fees in aviation are very high so it will also cost you extra money to resit them, and it doesnt look good on your CV.

The IR costs about £1000 to resit - so that would be an expensive mistake if you had to redo it!
