Robert Tobias, the director of NYU's Center for Research on Teaching and Learning, spoke at a forum on mayoral control Friday December 19. The forum was organized by the Parent Commission on School Governance, a group of parents that will write a recommendation to the state legislature on how to revise the law giving control of the public schools to the mayor.
It's amazing how concerned Robert Tobias is about test data. He certainly never cared about the accuracy of data when he was in charge of testing at the NYC Department of Education. Both of his successors (Lori Mei and Jennifer Bell-Ellwanger) continued in the tradition of not caring about anything but proving that the test scores were improving. However, Bloomberg/Klein have reached a new low in dishonesty (e.g., test inflation, increased discharge rates) to show bogus improvement in NYC.
