  • I only paint my wheels to stop the tyres going flat. Alloys are notorious for this problem in the British climate and tyre soap is no use on paint that has lifted. Remove tyre and valve and power brush away flaking paint especially in the bead and valve area. Watch out for porous black oxide. Paint with Special Metals Primer (etch prime) After a few days apply "Smoothrite". When the paint is hard sandpaper old paint & dirt off the tyre bead. Fit valve and tyre. It will now stay hard! Voila!
