lewiston high school french v class project 2002 part 1 of 2

the french v (5) class of 2002 at lhs had 6 people in it. When it came to doing our final group project, the class was so small, we decided to do just one big one with all of us.
we each wrote small skits in french that we filmed at the school itself, sometimes after school, sometimes i wished it was. we were pretty goofy and had fun throughout the entire process, but since Jacob is the man at directing and editing digital video, it came out with a good production quality for a high school project. and Jacob wasn't even in the french class. If you are wondering who i am, you first see me in the news segment as "earl phelps." it's pretty easy to recognize me after that.

we start with breaking news from "les nouvelles aujourd'hui," featuring stories about a "racehorse" and a meteor about to hit Ouagadougou.

1st commercial is for a new reality show. 5 high school students come back 5 years after graduation and are locked back in the building in a fight to the death for $5,000,000 bad boys

2nd commercial is for "la mouffette energique," or "the energizer skunk." you will see a similarity once you get there. not much I can say about this one, except it was the deathblow to my dignity.

3rd commercial is a teaser tarot card reading from "mlle cleo" (think back now, fake jamaican fortune teller lady). during the reading, a couple in the audience finds out someone has been unfaithful?

Why tarot card reading? Did you know tarot is played as a real card game in France. It's like bridge or skat. The players there use modernized tarot cards similar to the poker deck for gaming. The tarot game is more popular there than tarot reading. There's also a French gaming tarot based on Asterix cartoons that I think might be useful for French language classes. Google "jeu de tarot" or "french tarot"

tarot cards because it was a spoof on the "miss cleo" commercials that were popular nationwide at the time we shot this. she was a jamaican fortune teller that later turned out to be fake. i assure you we didn't mean to make fun of tarot reading. or the cards. just her... maybe you should confront her for making tarot cards look like a joke.

Okay this is a sad French V class. They haven't worked on fluency and accent obviously, Which is what one is supposed to work on in a French V class. The only good speaker in here in the black girl.

I don't know maybe this is just because I use my French everyday in my job (Cryptologic Linguist in the US Army) But anyways this is pretty sad. Good effort though.
