Keto Dzhaparidze "Nischaya"

Another great variant of the famous romance "Nischaya".
In this video are used postcards of old Tiflis (Tbilisi) - the capital of Georgia.

Keto Dzhaparidzhe like Tamara Tsereteli was Georgian singer.
She was born in Kvishheti ( a suburb of Tbilisi)in 1901. Since her childhood she demonstrated her unusuall musical talent. Her fist teacher in gymnasium was well-known composer Zakharij Paliashvili. At that time he was working at new opera "Abessalom and Etheri". Young Keto became the first performer of the part of Etheri and had a success. Later she entered Tbilisy's conservatoire and then she went for 3 years to Germany where continued her education.
But her way to soviet audience was long.
She was happy in marriage and didn't imagine about great scene. In early 1930's - the years of Stalin's repressions her husband was arrested. And Keto became to think how to earn money. A short time she had even to work as a kindergarten teacher.
Once to Tbilisi came popular singer Tamara Tsereteli and Keto with her close friend Veriko Andzhaparidzhe (famous dramatic actress) came to this consert. After the consert Veriko said to Keto: "God gave you such a great talent, but you didn't use it".
Keto came to a conclusion to become a variety singer. She prepared programm of old russian romances and songs and went to Leningrad. Her first concert she gave in 1935 and from that time she became extraordinary popular. "My second motherland" - she said about Leningrad (Snt Peterburg).
In 1938 in Moscow took place an All-USSR competition of variety performers. Though it was assigned age limit of 35 years for competitors. The Juri of the competition made an exception to the rule for Keto Dzhaparidzhe (at that time she was 37). As a result - Keto became laureate of All-USSR competition of variety performers.
More than 20 years she gladdened the hearts of her admires.

Thank you Maria for for the lovely postcards of Tbilisi and yet another wonderful Russian song. Keto had a beautiful emotive voice. This is so plaintively dramatic, it touches my heart.
