@themetaldetectorguy THANKS---you hunt in saltwater with the BHID and do well in saltwater I'd suspect?
-
@hunterray2002 which one would work decent in salt water? Probably the PI,huh? I don't know a VLF detector that works well in saltwater--except maybe the Excalibur and it costs a lot
-
@micmoable Sounds like you need a headhunter pirate.

I've thought of using a simple detector like a Tesoro Compadre or a Fisher 1212-x and run a long battery lead up to a set of headphones where when you plug battery up the unit is on and have the whole control box encased with epoxy/waterproofing like Goop,etc.---of course, control knobs will be set inside the encased control box and will remain as set --it'd be a wader or sorts--ha!
how do you rate the BEACHHUNTER ID as a saltwater detector? Is it good as an Excalibur or PI?

@micmoable Well I have not personally used the Excal too much. I have played with it a few times. The BHID I guess is the White's comparison to the excal. I love the BHID. When I need to search the water, wet sand and ry sand all on the same hunt this is the perfect machine to use in place of my Dual Field. I love the simplicity of the BHID and have gotten great depth using it as well.

@micmoable Compared to a PI a PI wins every time in my opinion. The Dual Field goes very deep and once you learn it well enough it is the best. The Dual Field is my favorite machine. It is hard to compare if it performs as well being I do not know what I am missing if anything. The DF punches through the sand real hard though!

@themetaldetectorguy I've owned a PI machine and it would go way deep on most targets and the only drawback was it had me digging pulltabs and pieces of bobbie pins and nails way on down there--ha! But, it absolutely could handle bad saltwater conditions with flat-out no problems....should have kept that unit but traded it for a land hunting unit after a while of using it and digging tons of junk-----it did find me some gold though and that's something my 1280-x never did

@micmoable Yeah The Pi is awesome after awhile you can figure out the signals but I still dig everything when using the DF. The BHID has no issues with salt water and wet sand when it comes to falsing or what not.
