  • I love how the anti-gay crowd throws around stats claiming that 2% of the world's population is gay, then state that 52% of MZ twins and 22% of DZ twins are both gay. This is supposed to disprove a genetic link.

A jump in probability from 2% to 22% is MASSIVE and from 2% to 52% is ridiculous for anyone to ignore.

In fact, these statistics alone prove that there must be a significant influence of genes on orientation.

BTW-even Spitzer himself resents his work being misrepresented like this.

  • Those statistics concern different specifications. One is general while the other is specific.

  • The likelihood of being homosexual is2% in the general population (which is ridiculously low, but I won't bother with that here), but identical twins are 50% more likely to be homosexual if their twin is. The probability of non-twin brothers (raised in the same environment) both being gay is much closer to the rate of the general population.

To deny a genetic component is just ignorant. Too many studies have proven the correlation.

  • From where did you get these statistics? At first I though you were commenting on the Twin Study from the video, but it's seems you're in a different world. From where did you get the 2% statistic?

Accepting a genetic component is nothing short of stupid, and I have yet to see those studies you keep mentioning.

  • Homosexuality is chosen

  • Well, at LEAST we know that 'Logical Demon' is a self-loathing gay Christian who's tried to commit suicide and tried unsuccessfully to turn himself straight and failed.

I wished this had told me something I didn't know.

Homosexuality, like it's cousin heterosexuality, is a blessing from God. So it doesn't MATTER how someone became gay, just important to know that you should be happy you're gay because you'll live so much more exciting and fulfilling life!

I couldn't think of anything BETTER!

  • I am genetically inclined to have sex with as many women as possible.

and yeah , blaming one for being in the closet . like I haven't heard that before ....

. alot of people think I'm gay . I'm gentle sensitive , with style... and the way I move and the way I talk... for some reason fall to the stereotype .

so heres my dark secret :at times , I felt like I'm more of a girl inside . and in my jealousy in other guys . I saw them as attractive . but I always knew what the right way is . and as my confidence rose . so did my identity as a man .

  • @rodgierad

Bam means - surprise . of course , it's something that develops over time . there is a module with the stages that establish same sex orientation . you are absolutely right about our modern society , being the ones who decided that this is how it should be . on a different colture , we could all be BI's . but what for? it's not something positive ... even I - being a very rebellious person . but in this case , I think it's more important to go with whats right , and not against it

  • So funny that "evidence" against a genetic link to homosexuality in this video includes the statement that "no one wants to see two guys kissing", yet so much for said "evidence" considering the buzz and consistent viewership when it comes to kisses between two men/two women in media recently.

  • @MoonknightX9

First, when you say things like "a habit, that YOU can't quit", it sounds a lot like you're talking about...yourself.

Second, a "habit" is something which develops, which is completely opposite from "and bam. they are bi'. So which is is? "Habit" or "bam"?

And isn't it REALLY EASY to "bam" into heterosexuality (or pretend to "bam"), especially considering societal and religious pressures?

So you really suggest that gay people aren't actually gay because bisexuals exist?

  • @rodgierad

Exactly . if we go with the possibility , that it's flexible , we are talking about a huge influence on kids here . that will develop such a behavior . at some point it's like a habit , that you can't quit . it becomes part of you . though, changes in life happen . this is why completly straight people , after years of marriage , suddenly meet someone , and bam . they are "bi" or just for te excitement . and alot of reversed stories happen as well . but they are shunned .

  • @MoonknightX9

"same traces" of what? Bisexuals aren't only attracted to the same gender. They are attracted to both.

They aren't gay or lesbian. Why does that bother you so much? Maybe you're concerned that all hetero people are actually potentially same-sex attracted?

Is the sexual orientation of an 80 year old woman who has only had sex with men "flexible"? How about an elderly man who has only ever been attracted to men? Not so "flexible".

  • @rodgierad

Not really , I'm pretty sure bisexuals hold the same traces , that make them attracted to the same sex . just like homosexuals \ lesbians . only difference is that they are not exclusive . but they make it pretty clear , that sexual orientation is flexible .
