Karen's phrasing is beautiful, but like of the carpenters' tracks, the orchestration and arrangement makes the song overall too saccharine. The darkness Karen had in her voice saved the Carpenters overall, though they still faced so much criticism for being overly white-bread. I wonder how Karen's career would have gone if she had left Richard.

I love this song and Karen's rendition. He definitely was not the guy for her, but she was a trooper and went ahead with the wedding, althought she didn't want to. Maybe she thought she could change him, but that was not to be. We are given family and friends, but they are only borrowed from God. Look at what legacy she left us, all these songs, we need to remember her with smiles and warmth, we will see her again. Love you KC.

This wedding should not be glorified as it is in this video. Burris took Karen for a ride. He was a fake through and through, Lied about his wealth, pretty much drained Karen's bank account and above all he told Karen he could not have children, but it was too late and the wedding went ahead. That marriage was doomed to fail. What an asshole.
