A big leaner stick takes lot of payin attention. Placin a tooth picktree is easy , Placin a Baseball bat tree aint so easy. I agree on mag wedges, they also lift a hell of alot more weight.

@highcountrytimber ..... Right on, Brother.

@TheSlimViper You are aware that using recycled paper takes more energy to make, thus making your earth saving attempt completely moot and void? You have "done the job"...... I'll bet falling timber isn't your livelihood or primary source of income. I'll also wager that you're not a 3rd or 4th generation faller who has lost more friends and family than you can count. Strange as it may be to you, We have a huge sense of pride and brotherhood in this industry that is second to none.

Ya, professionals obviously shouldn't talk about their profession, what? Comparing professional Fellers to strange kids is just wrong.
You've done the job, huh? So can you drop a tree with a contradictory lean right where you want it to go? This aint just chop chop, you know.
so is your house made of brick? Brick is made of clay dug out of the earth, non-renewable. Steel? Dug out of the ground, requires burning coal also dug out of the ground. Steel production is highly polluting as well.

I've always liked the way loggers talk about their trade. Its so similar to any other very detailed hobby and so strange to outsiders.
Its like listening to a Dungeons & Dragons player talk about his Warrior Monk or a car fanatic discuss the type of polish used on his chrome.
I've done the job. If you have the proper equipment and some experience it is not difficult. Cutting shit down doesn't make you DaVinci.
Also, my house is not made of wood and I only use recycled paper.

So let me ask you something SlimViper, do you live in a house? If your answer to that question is yes, then it would seem to me that you are a little bit ungrateful for the resources that you too enjoy. And as far as it having skill to fall a tree, well you obviously do not have ANY experience in that field.
magnesium driving wedge, fits in my pocket and i like it better than the big banana wedges some guys use
