  • @OaklandLYM And what a lovely story Warfield tells here about his debut as a singer:). I heard him live here in Waukesha, Wisconsin 32 years ago. The voice, although less resonant than at his peak, was full and steady. He sang Copland's "Old American Songs," parts of "Porgy and Bess" and of course "Ol' Man River." Warfield then narrated Copland's "Lincoln Portrait with the Waukesha Symphony Orchestra. I can still feel the chills that ran up and down my spine during his performance:) -
