  • @juliarainbowgreen @mohanpua haha, guys be nice. What I mean is that Poco could have provided instruction on, for example, applying a tourniquet to prevent blood loss and how to give basic first aid to extend lifetime while awaiting professional medical assistance (in this specific case). A tourniquet has to be applied correctly to prevent an amputation becoming necessary and to be effective.

  • sounds cool. impressed. good luck

  • Love it! Wishing you all the best :)

  • @mohanpua he's not claiming that it will, genius. it's a system that aims to provide medical advice. If an amputation is necessary, the sms system will inform the patient of that. If it is not necessary, the sms system will also let the patient know, thereby reducing travelling costs for the patient, as s/he will not have to travel all the way to the nearest clinic, which is often hours away.

  • Nice

  • @AyyaBanana1 Pardon me, but you've obviously mistaken me for someone who gives a damn.

  • great work Michael, this is the very essence of IS ;-)

  • Brilliant idea - using technology, particularly the channels people already use (mobile tech), to improve service access and delivery.

    Good luck!

  • Good work Michael...great idea and very relevant to South African Context.
