STEREO Version here http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=xPSD7jSSYrg&fmt=18

Did Kenny Burrell and Stanley Turrentine have a 5 year old bouncing around them and spinning their chair while recording the original? No. That is why this version is nowhere near as good. I was playing it from memory, not music, and I realise that I don't play it like the original phrasing, oops, never mind (its a bit dumbed down, sorry). Like a good Chili con Carne, each person brings there own interpretation, I kind of left the spice out and added too much meat though......I hope you enjoy it anyway, my little Madeline does make me laugh, and you can see we had fun.

For those that care about these things: The guitar is a telecaster thinline USA 90's, straight into Logic. By rights I should of used my Guild X-150, bit more suited to this tune, but I just grabbed the tele out of laziness (it is my lap guitar)

The sax is a Selmer Reference 36 with an otto link NY 7* mouthpiece and a 3 rico royal reed. The piano, bass and drum backing is from the new Hal Leonard Real Book 6th Edition backing tracks (amazon have them here http://www.amazon.com/Real-Book-Vol-Play-Along-3CDs/dp/1423433521 Be careful though you need the real book itself in addition, and each pack of cds is only a quarter of the book (not all songs as well) The book is here, and pretty much essential for any jazz musician http://www.amazon.com/Real-Book-B-Flat-Sixth/dp/0634060848 buy the right key for your instrument though. I only have in Bb, and have to wing it on the guitar

  • Cheers ..... great to hear from a fellow SOTWer!

  • I'm just amazed how you synched both videos. Very bluesy guitar (brother is strummin' it like a man possessed), punctuated by your daughter's "yeahh!" She reminds me of my little one (same age). Thanks for this upload.

  • Thanks YE, I think I could have done much better with the guitar solo, but it was nice to have Madeline grooving away, so this is the first take........It is just a bit of fun. The syncing takes a while, trick is to get both clips exactly the same length, but it is not easy...

  • I love her moves - she gets them from her mother you know!

  • hmmm, get off my channel and get back into the kitchen.
