  • Funny, I thought two-spirit meant a sort of transgender native that sometimes fulfills male and sometimes female roles in the society, regardless of birth sex

  • @arachnophile01 there are no walls

  • Like so many Indian philosphies, the Native American concept of the Two-Spirit rings so true and beautiful.

  • Isnt it interesting there are no hate comments on this vid, meanwhile the catholic parents love gay son vid has tons.

  • @arachnophile01 I think the basic definition was that you had a spirit that wasn't expected to be in your body. So the term would probably, I think, encompass what we today would call LGBTI. However I think this wasn't universal among the tribes. It also depended on their religious views, if you had two-spirit gods two-spirit people are of course way more likely to be accepted.

But I am far from an expert, I just read one book dealing with the topic, so I could be wrong.

  • @sleekcartim Cause most Christians are fucking idiots... Native Americans understood that homosexuality is natural and meant to be. They were/are much more evolved spiritually

  • @sleekcartim I was just asking because I thought that you could be two-spirit and straight,or bisexual.

  • @sleekcartim you are absolutely correct. Most traditionalists respect the winkte, agokwa, nad le,bade, etc because of their spiritual connections are deep and they are healers and help in the culture for nurturing people.

  • @sleekcartim I consider myself a 2 spirit as well. I am a descendant of the Wendat people and our history doesn't have anything recorded about having 2 spirited people because the jesuits hid that information from us. I am proud of 2 spirited people because we are the true spiritual peoples in Native American cultures.
