Dick, I don't think you're doing yourself a favor by comparing the DNC to the Soviet Union. That's a demonstration of extremism. Most of us are tired of it.
My comments below are in response to a lecture given by dick morris at the Oxonian Society on June 30, 2008 in which he says "It's funny we have one politician who's running for office promising to raise taxes and the other promising to wage war. No wonder we have an electorate that's confused."
Does it make sense to have 300 policemen guarding a bridge that an engineering firm claims was vulnerable to attack in a strategic location that can be adequately monitored around the clock by a much smaller security force?
Is the terrorist attack we fear most the one that involves a failure on our part to secure the important vulnerabilies?
I don't understand why gathering intelligence on potential terrorist threats is more important than gathering engineering knowledge on the vulnerabilities of our entire infrastructure combined with adequate security measures. Surely a terrorist attack can be planned and implemented without being intercepted by intelligence.
I have not "thoroughly dismissed the idea that we might ever be attacked". I hope you are the only American who has. You are the only person I've heard make that claim.
You "had a lot of fun writing your chapter on how the media downplays terrorist threats; deliberately understates them to give us the wrong impression".
Your conscience has been seared with a hot iron. I find nothing remotely funny about any of the topics you discussed, in particular the presidential candidate who promises war. What I do find are numerous straw man arguments, none of which are accompanied by evidence worthy of consideration.
What saddens me most is that my father, a life long christian whom I deeply admire, will vote for your candidate based on a perception supported by conservative media that war is an option, not a promise.
I m am a supporter of Obama, but Morris is right. The convention has become all about hillary. It should be a celebration of the winner. Obama should nt suck it up to those terrible puma lonnies, they re pathetic

Yea, he's pretty cool, but he's such a sellout. He's not Scott McClellan, but he bashes the Clintons any chance he gets.

I wish my father was confused.
