  • I think I can see the 2 Vol. E.K. Chambers on the bookshelf behind him.

  • He's glib, irritating and dishonest.. I don't like his intro to the RSC's edition of the complete works at all. He passes off a tonne of the shakiest conjecture about Shakespeare as irrefutable fact, and constantly re-interprets the works out of all recognition - to an extent that borders on liberal, politically correct propaganda. In short, the man is a vile distorter of facts, and a shameless misleader of the uniformed.

  • I love Professor Bate and his magnificent books on Shakespeare -- but so much of what he speaks of as well-known fact is mere supposition, isn't it? Personal theory, however intelligent or ingenious, is not biographical fact.

  • GREAT VIDEO
