This is the Italian version of "As long as he needs me"!
Again, I don't like the character of Nancy because she's a great woman in this Musical, but in the real Dickens' novel she's an hysterical prostituite, who betrayed Fagin...but nobody seems remember these details when make the movies!
BDW That' only my opinion^^
I prefer the italian version in this case!^^

  • Maybe she had the clap and was out of her mind?

    Just thinking out loud.

  • @WillScarlet16 She is a prostitute in the film too.flagged up by the obligatory red dress.she is to be found in a bedroom in the tavern when Bill turns up,and the "Do you know what you are? speech when she protects Oliver upon his return to the gang after being kidnapped,

  • AS LONG AS JAYZ NEEDS ME... I KNOW WHERE I MUST BE....

  • The orchestrations and arrangements of the music in this movie are magnificent. Johhny Green was the musical director and nothing has surpassed what he did with the music in this film. Listen to "As Long As He Needs Me". He made the song into a three part story and changed the shape of this song forever. The Broadway version of this same song pales in comparison. Green won the Academy Award for Best Adapation of a Musical Score and with more than good reason.

  • @MrSwandis NEITHER CAN I ! I need to listen to it !

  • Why can i not find this in the original english version.... Very important for my mother.

  • Bene.

But I can't agree with your assessment of her in the book. She still protects Oliver from Sykes when he tries to beat him. The only big difference is she is a tavern girl instead of a prostitute. I like the way they explored her conflicting love for Oliver and Sykes in the musical further.
