My cover of "Mansions of the Lord" from the movie We Were Soldiers. Composed by Randall Wallace. I played and recorded all of the harmony on the Yamaha, and then played the melody along with it. This song was also played during Ronald Reagan's funeral. You can watch it at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4oTrQgFYFI

It is sung by the West Point USMA Cadet Glee Club. These are the words to the song:

"To fallen soldiers let us sing.
Where no rockets fly nor bullets wing.
Our broken brothers let us bring
To the mansions of the Lord.

No more bleeding, no more fight.
No prayers pleading through the night.
Just divine embrace eternal light
In the mansions of the Lord.

Where no mothers cry and no children weep.
We will stand and guard tho' the angels sleep.
All through the ages safely keep
The mansions of the Lord."

  • Feel like the fallen soldiers are huging by god ^^~

  • Sounds like a good cover to me.

I remember when the song was brought to us and we were chosen to sing it for the movie. It's not just from us (USMA Cadet Glee Club). We recorded ours, but it was mixed with a recording from a European group called "Metro Voices" as well--for the movie. It made it sound a lot bigger and more powerful, because they were an adult choir vs. a college choir. It was neat getting to see the movie before it came out and meeting some of the actors like Mel Gibson.

  • Everytime I heard this music, I can't stop crying and thinking about our heroes fought in glory died in hell and rest in history. It inspire me to join the army. Thanks for this video.
