  • With all respect to Karate as I practise myself. Nonetheless, my Philippino Eskrima instructor from whom I also practise drills with knifes, does say that however good we can be, we will get cut... Gangsters street fight in Philippine are expert to just slash you like Freddy.

  • Nice :)

  • this technique is similar to aikido , I hope my sensei would teach this technique in class

  • @brunolp18 ,

What's the point of training that is not based on reality? NO ONE will attack you this way with a knife.

The "reality is they will swing & slash at you wildly, they will try to stick you most probably from an attack from the rear, they will creep there attack so as you don't see the knife coming even coming. Your best defence when faced with a knife is to either run OR quickly find your own weapon or shield. That's the reality.

  • @dobberdoss But with proper training, this things will come quickly in your mind when they are needed. Otherwise, martial arts training wouldn't be necessary: "Just watch a video and you're good to go."

  • @iamaloady

I practise Karate too and my master says we should run away if someone attacks us. The best fight is the fight you dont fight ;)

  • Great knife defense! I practice a branch of Okinawan Shorin-Ryu and our first knife defense is extremely similiar if not identical to this. I'm preparing for my Shodan test so we are now trying to practice this technique with continual extremely fast stabs, in most cases I would find this unnessisary because not many people are knife experts but just to be safe I think it is great practice. Great videos and sensei Tom you seem to be a very gentle, wise sensei! Definitely the spirit of Karate-do!

  • @SuperSayjinElite Just being racist

  • @Grizzlly1992

wear ankle weights and practice 500X kicks each leg with out stopping.
