For setup, I use eventghost as my shell, which launches straight into xbmc. I also used eventghost to program my remote. With the remote I can toggle from xbmc to Windows Media Center where I can play various game ROMS using emulators for nintendo 64, nintendo and super nintendo (this is done by using the gametime plugin for wmc and programing a wired gamestop xbox360 controller). I also have the hulu desktop plugin and xbmc plugin for wmc so I can launch both programs from wmc if needed. You can also watch Netflix from wmc with a subscription and both WMC and XBMC are able to stream online tv shows.

  • I've also added hulu and netflix to xbmc and am going to add firefox as well and just get rid of the need for windows media center.

  • Nice setup :) I could never get emulators working in xbmc. Oh well. :)

  • @no0style thanks. I run the emulators from windows media center using a plugin called gametime but I'm looking into running them from xbmc using hyperspin but so far its annoying to set up but we will see if I can get it working.

  • @SMDBclan I've tried Hyperspin and just gave up. Looks great but just a pain to setup. Decided to hack a Wii instead. All I want to do is get some N64, Gamecube & SNES controllers so I can play games as they should be played :D. Good luck with Hyperspin, you'll need it I think :p

  • @no0style Yeah, I gave up on hyperspin, I got it working with a few emulators but couldn't get it working with all of the ones I wanted, so now I have switched to the "rom collection browser" plugin for xbmc and it works pretty good, the only problem I had was that it would not work with any n64 emulator other than Project64 1.7 and only 1.7. Then I just added it to favorites and added a shortcut to it on my homemenu called "games" and it works like a charm.
