the April 5, 1958 demolition of Ripple Rock - a marine hazard in British Columbia's Seymour Narrows. The destruction of Ripple Rock was a brilliant bit of engineering that produced the largest non-nuclear explosion in history.

  • @hangas1 "Some bridge..."??? Pfft. Whatever, guy. (HINT: It's the one with fucking awesome statues of two lions guarding each end.)

  • too bad there wasn't some footage of Campbell River itself.. instead of some bridge on the mainland

  • Hippy

    Hippy

  • Gotta love being Canadian ehh?

  • @tomrigets Wait what? I live just south of the narrows, and Vancouver is over a hundred klicks south of me. This was nowhere near vancouver.

  • Sorry but Vancouver is less than 2 kilometers away. Stupid head!

  • Yes, I remember...it was a big deal for sure

  • Big deal, a few dead seals. Lots of salmon though. My Uncle went and got about 5 big spring. And there is the typical overkill. The blast was NOT felt in Vancouver, and I doubt even in naniamo. Nan is 90 miles south, and Van 25 miles further.

  • a successful explosion unless one considers the sea life killed in the area from the blast.
