  • At 0:05 you can see the fmic on the car. the camera car was the vr6. 1.8t wins...

  • I can't believe there is still speculation on this and I feel like an imbecile correcting you all. The silver car, a 1.8t, was my car. Sean's car, the CAMERA CAR, was a VR6. Done. Fucking morons.

    0:24 The '01 VR6 lost to a chipped 1.8T. Period.

  • vr6 is the way to go.. all motor and he still didnt even lose that bad.

  • @flurry i honestly dont know where your getting your figures saying my car weighs 400lbs more than a 1.8t thats pretty funny, a 1.8t is roughly 2903lbs and mine is 3000 so ya...ur figures are off, apr tune = 17hp cams = 15 im dynoed at 257hp 248lbs, stock for stock, the 24v would eat the 1.8t. discussion is now over.

  • @boatsnhoesrnice

Not even with the whole APR menu, you won't win. None of that would shave off 400 lbs of your car's weight to match the 1.8's, so you would need to produce some 250-260 WHP just to match the 1.8's power to weight ratio (a nearly impossible task in a N/A 2.9 VR6). APR tune = 5-10hp, race cam = 5 hp, and a heavy clutch won't add a single hp to your car.

Chipped 1.8 still wins over 24v VR6. And for way less money. That's life.

  • @flurry im stating mine would have done better, APR tune, APR intake 2.5 cat back, DXD stg 2 clutch, 268 billet cams, = winning.

With all due respect to a fellow VW driver: Save it for the Honda VTEC crowd. They love to theorize and talk about "better sound/experience/turbo-less power, but still got defeated" scenarios. The '01 VR6 lost to a chipped 1.8T. Period. Your 200hp 24V wouldn't had change the outcome: losing to a way lighter and more powerful chipped 1.8. Winning's winning!

  • @Jimsraiders2012

"getting a chip" is slang for actual engine tuning.

Getting the most HP per dollar in a MK4 GTI 1.8T:

    $1400 GT28 = +120 hp ($11 x hp)

    $500 chip = +35 hp ($14 x hp)

    $50 K&N plate = +3 hp ($16 x hp)

    $250 K&N CAI = +5 hp ($50 x hp)

    $950 magnaflow = +15 hp ($63 x hp)

I recommend inverse the wish list.

  • @flurry ya see 24v 200+hp would have done better lol, atleast my 24v would have in this instance lol
