i would say that the two most compelling characters were Rorsach and Ozymandias. two oposite ends on the spectrum as far as viewing morality-- Black and White versus Nothing but Grey. That's why when Rorsach is confronted by an undeniably grey situation, he pretty much lets himself be killed rather than face it. neither of these two were very compelling

Where did you get the 'right-wing propaganda' thing from? The writer, Alan Moore, is practically an anarchist. The right-wing characters in this story are just his different takes on power, and how (and why) it's used.
