During the recent PubCon South at Austin 2011 conference in Texas, PubCon video content producer Vanessa Zamora caught up with PubCon office manager and fashion blogger Cathy Benavides to discuss none other than spring fashion at the PubCon trade show. Benavides, who blogs at Austin Slave to Fashion hosted on the Tumblr platform shared tips for staying comfortable, yet fashionable during a conference where attendees regularly walk around, network, and can be on their feet for long periods of time. For men, Benavides suggested packing basics like jeans, a t-shirt, and a blazer to keep the look professional. Benavides suggested women make a basic outfit stand out by adding accessories or cute flats. Benavides pointed out some of the more fashionable attendees at PubCon including Dan and Alison Zarrella, who she called the fashion couple that is always trendy. Andy Beal was another favorite in his PubCon t-shirt, corduroy blazer, and Converse shoes. Carolyn Shelby had some strappy Michael Kors heels worth noting, Benavides shared, and Jabez Labret who used to work at Nordstrom's department store was donning cool Oxfords. Benavides noted her all-time favorite fashion bloggers including local Austin blogger Indiana Adams, the owner of Adored Austin, and her overall favorite blogger Sally McGraw at Already Pretty, a blog about fashion and body acceptance.

Cathy, who also consults on social media, said she thinks geo-location is the next trend to look out for and suggested companies make themselves available on location-based services like Foursquare and Gowalla, including creating specials for users checking in at business locations. Mobile apps such as those offered by Yelp and SocialSmack, where users can leave reviews of local businesses are also growing in popularity, Benavides added.
