Full Transcript: Mr/Madam Speaker-
An article from todays Wall Street Journal cites a quote from then candidate Obama while out on the campaign trail. Mr. Obama railed against a health care plan that included drastic cuts for seniors saying, if you count on Medicare, it would mean fewer places to get care and less freedom to choose your own doctors. Youll pay more for your drugs. Youll receive fewer services. Youll get lower quality care. I dont think thats right. In fact, its aint right.
I couldnt have said it better myself Mr. President. So its troubling that this plan purposes to do exactly that:
This plan would cut a total of $538 billion dollars from Medicare: $172 billion from Medicare Advantage alone. Additionally, it cuts $149 billion from hospitals and skilled working facilities, $67 billion dollars from Medicare part B, $77 billion dollars from home health care services, $30 billion from Medicare Part D and I could go on.
We need a plan that works with our seniors, not against them.
I yield back the balance of my time.
