Excelsior Union High School home of the film Grease 2 in 1982 Rydell HS

Here is how Excelsior Union High School looks today in 2009. It was where they shot the movie "Grease 2" back in 1982. Twenty six years ago! They extended the walkway in front for the main intro to the film for dancers and is still there. The large bushes in front of each side of the main entrance are gone and the flagpole slab in gone too.
During the filming at the opening sequence they parked school buses all around the school main building to cover up the strip mall across the street as well as street traffic. The city would not allow them to shut down Norwalk Blvd.

After this film came "High School USA" and "Square Pegs" also filmed here at this High School. No other major films or TV shows made after that. It is no longer used for filming by the industry. It was reopened as an Adult school not a High School.

I knew it....back in the 90's my church VICTORY OUTREACH IN EAST LA DID A PLAY THERE CALLED STRAIGHT FROM THE HOOD AND THATS WHAT THEY SAID THAT THIS IS THE SCHOOL AND I WAS LIKE NO ITS NOT AND TODAY I JUST SAW THE MOVIE AGAINE ON THE FAMILY CHANNEL AND DECIDED TO GOOGLE IT AND GUESS WHAT....WOWWWW THAT IS AWESOM

i was an extra for the film grease ,i got paid $20 an hour for a month after school ,now im a realtor and at century 21 realty masters in norwalk ,i also was part of another show called square pegs,and chips ,all of these films where filmed at my school ,and rocky horror show was also by the way

I live right in front of this school! my apartments are nearly 2 mins away from this school. Now and days people use the field to play soccer. and im so ashamed that not a lot of ppl know that the classic known as grease was shot here. ppl need to know it was. Man this place is extremely creepy at night. lol
