wheni hold down my 1st finger the whole chord sounds...well i cant explain it but it sounds funky! plz help?

Do you mean funky, like it sounds muted? Or are the strings ringing but the notes sound wrong? Give me some info and I'll try to help you out.

yess it sounds muted. but it doesn't get muted until after i hold down the 1st finger. I just started guitar, so i dont know if im holding it down wrong or what...thanks!

If it sounds muted then your barre finger is probably not holding the strings tightly enough to the fret. It sometimes helps me if I roll my index finger away from my palm so that the side of my finger is on the strings. The side of your finger is harder that the soft, fleshy part on the bottom of your finger and this can help with muted strings. Keep practicing, it does get easier.

thank you! this is easier than F chord :) I was trying to learn maroon 5 she will be loved which is Bm and A almost throughout and the diagram for Bm on ultimate guitar didnt sound right and also looked different and were harder. thanks to you i can play Bm (and it sound right!), just need to get the hang of D5 chord. thank you for helping!
