The Colt 1911 design will be a century old next year, and it's showing it's age. Take a look at some of the flaws and shortcomings of the 1911 pistol platform that contribute to it's durability and reliability problems. I also point out some of the solutions modern engineering has come up with in order to solve these problems on modern firearms.

  • Handguns shooting 1.5 inch groups at 50 yards?? Yep its a 1911. Name another.

  • @vandalfan5816 Any .22 target pistol.

  • Very good informative video. It's hard to find a well based, knowledgeable video about firearms' troubleshooting on you-tube. I agree with both sides though. 1911 is a good weapon. You miss the point though, it has it's own limitations. Special forces switched to other modern platforms. The truth is the most dependable weapon on Earth is....REVOLVER. But you don't see them that often, because there r more sophisticated platforms, NOT because revolvers got worse. Anyway, where is the HATE from???

  • @antiigravity What hate?

  • @dan16802 When a modern off road vehicle fights for 100 years and through two world wars maybe we will consider it on the same level as a horse.

shuttup, they work. Many people are still riding horses today.

  • Yes we 1911 owners are proud of our guns and a well tuned 1911 is worth every penny. I'm a cop and I carry a 1911 on duty. I've had glocks and springfield XDs. Sold them after I shot my first 1911 to buy other 1911s. One more point. I have my grandfathers colt 1911 that he carried from 43 till the end of the war in the pacific. All original parts and it still shoots flawlessly with no work ever being done on it.

  • Nice video. It will make people think that the 1911 is somehow fragile, and we know that from how many thousands of rounds people put through them, they're fine. It's similar to any fine tuned piece of machinery; you take precautions. You wouldn't slam the hood on a Ferrari or fill it with 87 octane.

  • @deadeye512 Thankyou for your feedback. Auto ordinance is a Thompson product which is owned by Khar firearms... ALL AMERICAN BABY Hell yes. Enjoy... Remember to keep em clean, keep em loaded, practice often and educate as many people (all ages) as you can about proper firearm handling.

  • @booyalakasha1 I just purchased an Auto-ordinance 1911A1 parkerizzed and have fired about 200 rounds through it... great gun and have only had 1 jam (ammunition related) but it is very accurate and I love it. I would never buy a foriegn 1911... they just suck

  • @theshawner so I take it you're an expert gunsmith and can design the next pistol that will be around and popular for 100 years? (sarcasm)

  • looks like an improperly fitted taurus. Get an original made in America 1911 and you will see a difference.

  • @AlllamericanQB ... Or he couldn't afford a real 1911 so he settled on this beyond worn out taurus and probably for a single c-note.

  • 1st, Taurus' aren't the best. 2nd No pistol is perfect but a 1911 comes DAMN close compared to a Glock, Or Sig, or Beretta or any other tactical handgun that is crapped out every 2 months.

  • @dan16802 this guys butthurt because he probably loves 9mm's.

  • i have a Mk4 series 70 gold cup national match my grandpa gave me, he shot thousands of rounds before giving it to me, and it shoots perfectly... you have that problem because your is a taurus

  • @GohModley Not saying it's impossible, but I doubt it, especially off hand shooting. And the 1911's that are capable of that are accurized race gun type 1911's, not the originals. I've fired WW2 1911's and they aren't capable of that type of accuracy in human hands.
