Please comment ! (Even though it's really bad).

Brian Hong (me) performs the finale of Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor, Op. 26 at the finals of the Duquesne University Young Artist's Concerto Competition, accompanied by the Duquesne University Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jeff Turner.

I was really really nervous, and I did not have a good performance. Lots of missed notes. But please enjoy!

  • Yes, compared to your Bach during the solo winners recital, you did not look yourself in this audition. I am sure you gained valuable experience from working with an orchestra, and will perform much closer to your best next time when you play with an orchestra. Hope to see you again in Pittsburgh and best wishes.

  • Thanks so much for the comment..it helped me a lot. Yes I got great experience from this. May I ask who you are? (You can send me a PM).

  • Brian !!! :-D ...ahahaha... u never mentioned u've uploaded the video... gud thing i saw ur post on OriginalMoonbeam's channel :-)

    ... ur great !!! ... i was smiling the whole time i was watching ur vid !!! :->

    congratulations !!! ... 5/5 and favorited !!! :->

  • Thanks, Ron. It wasn't my favorite rendition.....wit problems in intonation and phrasing, but thanks for your feedback. Glad you enjoyed it.

  • Brian, you never cease to amaze me. As usual you are ridiculously hard on yourself, and this was a very fine performance. Although I totally understand how you feel, because I am never happy with my performances either. But from an outsider looking in, you looked totally confident and sounded it too. Really great. I will miss seeing you this summer!

  • Thanks so much!

  • Very impressive playing.

  • I think in all your Videos you Pizz just before an entrance in advance to know where what you're playing.. You're obviously not good enough to know where to place your finger at the right time.. Have Self Confidence.

  • ARE YOU KIDDING???? YOU MUST BE JOKING. I WISH I COULD PLAY LIKE THIS!!! YOU ARE FREAKIN AMAAAAZZZZIIINNNGGG!!!! DON'T BE SO HARD ON YOURSELF! GIVE YOURSELF THE CREDIT YOU DESERVE!

  • The opening of this is very nice. Your musicality is good. Who cares if you missed a few notes. You convey a much greater emotion with your choices in phrasing and the music in general.

  • Great job Brian, one thing you need to stop doing is apologizing. I read your comments and you give yourself away, I know the places you are refering to when you say "out of tune" but really you don't need to remind anybody because they are not that disastrous like you think in your head.over all is a good performance and you did your best. Enjoy your talent

  • You said that you missed a lot of notes, but i think that no one would have noticed, i barely did i'm playing this song, but fantastic job your uber pro

  • Now when I practice song I'll sound terrible compared to this guy

  • Good job! You are still very young, and all you need now is a lot of hard work(I'm sure you are on it) to become more and more professional. You are on a right way! Keep going! :)

  • helloo brian. you're so good(: you did look nervous and not every single note was perfcetly in tune. but then .. who am i to talk? hahahha. from your biggest fan, judy(:
