The education of the LGBTQ community is not about sexual education, though there is an aspect that can be taught in sex ed, it is about society. Teaching children that all people are not the same, and some men like men, and women who like women is just something the world needs to come to terms with.

Diversity is what we should be teaching and acceptance. Education is the key to a greater society.

@mountain19 Homosexuality is not something you can "catch," and nobody can be "turned into" a homosexual. LGBT people come from a wide array of families and backgrounds, and still they end up gay. The reason the military doesn't take people past a certain age is because they become less physically able. Where on earth did you hear that? The reason we need programs like this is to stop people like you from turning your kids into bigots just the same.

All the book does is let kids know that it's not wrong or funny or weird to have gay parents. When you raise your kid to have an open mind, they will. If you raise your kid to believe in Santa Clause, they will. If you give them the book while they are young and don't know anything about sexuality, all it does is say that gay parents are just like hetero parents. Public schools have a larger diversity of children and parents, if you don't want to mingle with the gays go to a private school.

I was bullied so bad in school I have PTSD and agorophobia as an adult. NOTHING was done to protect me from bullies and my parents were straight. Kids will always find something to harass other kids about.
