I am gradually sorting through some of my ancient video tapes to log what is on them, and capturing some vintage clips whilst I do so.
Here is the second advert break shown during a broadcast of the James Bond 007 film 'For Your Eyes Only' (1981), recorded on Sunday 31st Auguest 1986. (And yes, the film title card looks as over-bright and washed out on the original recording as it does here).
Adverts include:
* Mellow Virginia tobacco
* The Sun
* McDonalds
* Lloyds Bank (part of a series with Leo McKern, also featuring Philip Franks from 'The Darling Buds Of May' and 'Heartbeat')
* Master Menu ready meals
I've also uploaded the other advertisement breaks from the recording.
I am still going through all of my old tapes and uploading various clips, so check back regularly!
omg these were aired the day before i was born! thats funny.

@Londonfogey Didn't think it through though - now he's stuck on the island with NO MATCHES where he could have got off and had as much as much tobacco as he wanted. Good job it's just an advert eh...

Haha I LOVE the Mellow Virgina ad! I remember it now. The manic lifestyle he's given up is just the kind of world the anti-smokers thrive in....

Haha, I love the overwrought backing music on the ready meals advert.

As I'm rather tired of saying by now, the Lloyds Bank ads are probably the key UK ads of 1986.
