The lightbulbs people should be getting are LED Lightbulbs. They have the benefit incandescent bulbs had in that it can do bright light right away, but also use a hell of a lot less energy. (A 40 watt equivelant is about 6 watts) (cost of about 10 bucks, but burns for 50,000 hours. That equates to it can burn for 5.7 years, and thats if for that time, you have the bulb on continuously, so you can actually expect to get maybe up to a decade or more from these bulbs.
