Oboe Cane Hand Gouging

This is the method I have been using for about 30 years to gouge my oboe cane. I do have a few gouging machines, but I still use this method sometimes. I started this when I found a round chisel at a neighborhood hardware store in my hometown, Hayama, Japan. When I saw this, my first thought was "Gosh, it's perfect for gouging oboe cane!" Then I did. All I wanted was making reeds cheap. This is definitely the cheapest way to make oboe reeds, but time consuming too........
