To download an mp3 file of the accompaniment, go to www.steveparkhornmusic.net. This is a fun intermediate level piece. To play it full speed requires good technique. I am playing this on a E. Schmid horn that I am testing. The mouthpiece is a Houser San Francisco model with a titanium/ceramic composite rim. You can check it out at Housermouthpiece.net. Subscribe! I will be adding more solos on a regular basis. I teach horn at a University and my goal is to create a video library of some of the best horn solos for my students and others. Also let me know if there is something you would like me to record.

  • Yes, Canto Serioso please!!

    It is a great piece!

  • I can't find where to leave a message to you, so I figured here would do.

I have a request - Canto Serioso by Carl Nielsen. A beautiful piece, and rather fun to play too!

  • Steve, nice job as always. What size mouthpice and rim are of the SF are you using?

  • I just bought that mouthpiece a couple of weeks ago and i absolutely LOVE IT!!!!

  • Did you move fron the Ricco to a Schmid?

  • Ah what wonderful memories this brings back! This is such a good solid solo/recital piece to play. Steve, great job as always. I am curious your thoughts on the Schmid and how it plays. By the way, I noticed that the balance seemed a little piano heavy on this video. Without jumping to conclusions, could that be the audio setup or the new horn (or something else entirely!)? Thanks again for posting all this wonderful material for folks to study and enjoy.
