Makes the famous Austin unit pedal action. principal component in Austin pipe organs since earth 20th century. Video filmed during winter of 2008 at the Austin Organ factory in Hartford Connecticut.
This is pretty typical for early 20th century mass production, even as far back as the 18th century with the start of the industrial revolution. People have been interested in making things in less time and for less money with less skilled labor for a long time.
This is fantastic! I have recently become interested in CNC machines, I guess this was how production was done prior to the computer era. Genius. Is this typical of manufacturing practise or is this something unique?
