  • Hello MarcopolAud29

My Great Great Grandfather, Edwin Kibblewhite, was aboard the Drummond Castle when she was lost in 1896. He was a 'rigger' and crew member. As far as I know, his body was not recovered.

  • @ns01mzk Hello, Thank you for your memories about the Drummond Castle. The next time which I shall dive on the wreck, I shall think of your Great Great Grand father.

  • Hello MarcopolAud29...

  • An amazing video! My great great great Grandfather was Edwin Kibblewhite (so I must be related to @ns01mzk) Thanks so much for posting and in so doing adding a little to a family history.

  • Thanks, will try this way first. One of the graves in the churchyard has a name on it. Rreading the information in the church it was not possible to identify the victims were, the graves number 29 and all have a cross marking the spot, a plaque on the wall records the tradgedy. A ceremony was held on the island to mark the 100 th anniversary and two decendants of the survivors attended and are shown speaking in the museum video.

  • Hello - it was very nice to receive your e-mail and I would be pleased to have copies of the photographs and any other information that you have. Thank you for your interest. My great-grandfather was called William Graham and I did wonder if his name was listed on any of the monuments. If you can e-mail me the photographs that would be good. If you require my e-mail address please let me know. Many thanks and best regards Marion Sheppard-Bond.

  • Hello, I visited Molene on 1 September 2009 and have four photographs, covering the inside of the small museum on the island and the cemetery. I can if you wish have copies and can provide a bit more information if you require

  • Hello Alain Naigeon. Thank you very much for your message - it is most appreciated. I seem to have collected quite a lot of information about the Drummond Castle and her unfortunate end. One day I hope to visit the island and see if my Great Grandfather's name is listed on any of the monuments. Many thanks again. Best regards Marion Sheppard-Bond.

  • Yes, I've seen burials at Ouessant island (during holydays).

Everyone seems to know this story there.
