In this session we will have a closer look at the mia_photometric_light.

This node is not only allowing you to achieve more realistic lighting , but it will also make your GI solution much easier and faster to work with.
In the past one would have to adjust both photon Radius and Merge Distance. Now with this node the guessing portion is gone, you simply add the node to the light custom Shader and voala !

  • Ashaiad, thanx for the tutorial...

Not to nag on you, but.

This I think is the problem with a lot of MR nodes in Maya.. The AETemplates are just not 'finished'.. For example that 'mode' integer should be an optionMenuGrp or a radiobutton that would ghost out the options that are no longer valid for that mode. This would simplify things a lot.. Sure.. first time around can read what the 'mode' really does. Next time around, you forgot about it and start playing with everything again..

  • good tutorial.....i like....

  • nice tut :) tanks

  • finally :D you are back!
