Selena: [She went to sit down coming back from the bathroom.] Joe, Have you seen Nick?
Joe: Ye- I mean no. Why?
Selena: Oh, cause he wasn't in chemistry today & we were made lab partners by the teacher, I have to go by you guys' house to get started later. Do you think he'll mind?
Joe: Be there at 5. He'll be home. [He smirked, pleased with himself.]
Selena: Great.
At 5.
Selena: [She rung the doorbell.]
Nick: [He was in his pajamas & went to answer it holding a cereal bowl.] Uh, Selena? What the hell. JOE! It's for you![He quickly assumed.]
Selena: He didn't tell you? I'm here so we can start on our chemistry project. [She laughed.] You look silly.
Nick: [He couldn't help but chuckle.] Wow, we have to work on a project together. This might be awkward...
Selena: It's due next month. [She smiled & ignored eye contact for a while.] Yeah it's been months. But I'm not letting that get in the way of getting an A on this.
Nick: Oh. Yeah, for the sake of a grade. Well I better go get changed...and put this in the sink, if you don't mind.
Joe: [He came running down the stairs.] Oh, I see you two figured things out. Good luck Nick. [He walked back up the stairs.]
Selena: [She glanced at joe, suspiciously.] Okay, anyway. You could stay in your pjs if you want.
Nick: But I look like an idiot. [He stared for a moment at what she was wearing. Even though he wasn't a girl, you could tell that her outfit cost a fortune. Meanwhile, he was just wearing boxers with bears on it that his brother decided to buy for him as a joke.]
Selena: Yes, you do. But a cute idiot. [She smiled entering into the living room.]
Come on. [She smiled, trying to convince him.] I've seen you in pjs before.
Nick: [He couldn't help but smile when she called him a cute idiot, but then that made him feel like an idiot.] Alrighty then, whatever you say. [He shut the door behind him happily yet still frustrated. What gave her the nerve to just show up like this? He knew he wasn't going to even attempt at bringing up the night with the phone call.]
1 hour later:
Selena: I never knew you were so smart! [She looked at him, surprised.]
Nick: I'll take that as an insult. [It was after all, the second time he had heard her say that.]
Selena: [She giggled.] Well it would be considered an insult by other people, but I'm finally getting to know you & it's a good thing.
Nick: [He sighed. They weren't strangers.] Do you want anything to eat?
Selena: Sure. I kinda want ice cream. Your fridge is in the kitchen? [She paused, laughing.] I mean-
Nick: Well obviously. Where's yours? [He smirked, holding in laughter.]
Selena: [She began to laugh.]] I meant to say where's your kitchen?
Nick: Through that door. [He pointed to it.] Do you really not remember?
Selena: What? Things could've changed! [She got up quickly while defending herself, dropping her things that were in her purse.]
Nick: Wait, Sel. [He realized she was gone & he got on the floor picking up everything that fell. He stopped at something unfamiliar and a flurry of scared feelings overwhelmed him.]
Selena: [She rushed back into the living room.] Nick, you have no ice cream silly.
Nick: Oh, really! Uh [He placed what he had in his hand back into her purse as quickly as he could along with everything else.]
Selena: Is that...Were you looking through my stuff?
Nick: [He started to stutter & let out a loud sigh of relief when he heard the doorbell ring.] I'll get it!
Joe: No [He appeared out of nowhere and put his hand out as if to make him sit down.] I'll get it. [He went out of hearing distance to answer the door.] Oh, hey. I thought that you weren't coming anymore. Come on we have until 7.
Demi: That's just it, Joe. I came to tell you that I'm not doing this anymore. [She held back the tears as well as the truth that was dying inside of her to pour out.]
Joe: [He thought about it calmly, but still barely caring.] Okay, fine. [He nearly shut the door in her face before she spoke again.]
Demi: You don't need an excuse, anything? You're just gonna let me leave?
Joe: Isn't that what you want?
Demi: Well yeah, but is it really that simple. I kinda wanted you to--
Joe: To feel sad that we're no longer friends with benefits? Why the hell would I do that? [He realized how harsh that sounded.] I..mean...
Demi: [It's like he had read her mind.] I don't know.. [She spoke the next ugly words through gritted teeth.] 'Cause for the past couple of months I though you actually cared about me. Guess you're just really that good of an actor. [She stomped off.]
Joe: [He slammed the door and whispered something to himself.] Yeah, well I have had some practice. Amateur. [He ran back up the staircase.]
Meanwhile:
Selena: [Her face was filled with adrenaline from being so nervous.] Why were you looking through my stuff? [She gave him a puzzled expression, wrongfully accusing him.]
