  • Question for you guys: what was the last year Sox & Martin/Ronnie Sox raced?

  • Ronnie raced til not too long before he passed away. I believe the last of the Sox & Martin team race cars was the late '70's/early '80's Dodge 024 Charger which was powered by a 383 low-deck Hemi. This car is currently restored and for sale.

  • how can it be all original if its a HEMI? i thought that wasn't available after 71.

  • Actually, the Hemi was never available in a Duster at all in any year. This car was built for Pro Stock drag racing by the Sox & Martin team. Pro Stock rules allow for a variety of different engines that may have never actually been offered in a production car. Just like how some of today's modern Pro Stockers are based on cars that are offered from the factory in front wheel drive only but the Pro Stock drag cars all rear wheel drive.

  • I knew Ronnie from working at York US30,in Thomasville/York PA...Great guy!

  • @rudfil its the camshaft they use.high lift and long duration cause the "loping" or rough running at idle.they are made for high rpm applications, like drag racing.fun to listen to but can be a pain to drive on the street!

  • I love the one where Hemi Fred lays this cherry Duster up in a 300 foot wheelie and humps the concrete barrier ruining hid S&M Duster. What a knob!

  • Best racer ever and a really nice guy!

  • why do these cars sound like tractors at idle and when they go they sound more like a race car ?

  • It sounds like a powerglide at that :(

  • Great video. I raced a 69 Roadrunner way back in the good ole days. Few years back bought my son a 70 Duster with a tricked out 340 & tricked out automatic. WOW, what a car. We had more fun just driving the car around town on the weekends, the sound really turned heads. Old Mopars were King, no doubt about it.

  • HEMI the motor!
