Strawberry Switchblade - Rose Mcdowall, Jill Bryson. My passion for this band only grows with the years. Yet another compilation video for you folks. This time to a rare peel session of Cut you with the Cake knife The period on 1985 where Rose gradually gave up Pop stardom to become the Wiccan/Pagan goddess we all know and love. Unfortunately this freaked out Jill and the band broke up. Personally I think it was worth it. Just listen to thunder perfect mind, looney runes, or Brown Book, albums of titanic, immortal, importance. And check out Rose's "Under the Yew Possesed" Her song writing only got better.

  • Rose McDowall was not on The World That Summer, Andrea James was. Rose was on Brown Book (the album following that) and several others all of which are some of Death In June's finest work. I think her voice meshed well with DI6.

  • @streetwithoutjoy your right! I knew those were not Rose's legs! I corrected it thanks! :)

  • Gordak, you spoil us! Gothic Lolitas have nothing on these girls, but all the same I hope they all discover Strawberry Switchblade and Roses's solo efforts.

  • @streetwithoutjoy @gordak: However, I've read that some of the later CD versions of TWTS contain three tracks that were completely stripped of vocals — two of the three, incidentally, being "Break The Black Ice" and "Rule Again." i.e., depending on which version a person owns, each of you is/both of you are correct. ☿ Separate topic for @gordak: in 2004, Rose released "Cut With the Cake Knife" on a CD of the same name [attempted to post a link, though it seems YouTube won't permit — see Discogs]

  • @streetwithoutjoy @gordak : Don't mean to "butt in" — but Rose contributed to The World That Summer. At least on the double vinyl circa '86 that I own, she did. . ."Break The Black Ice" is definitely Rose, as is "Rule Again" [quote] "a strong track that works within a very limited melodic space but manages to rise above monotony through its tripartite vocal perfomance, featuring Pearce, Tibet, and former Strawberry Switchblade frontwoman Rose McDowall all at once."

  • I don't remember this one but I love it! I didn't know the reason they broke up was cause Jill freaked over Rose's Pagan tendencies...Great song anyway & the images are just lovely

  • Rose is so hot! She reminds me of my gay best friend that I am inlove with....blah! We just need to have sex already...its been 23 years!

  • I love strawberry switchblade! they reminds me of one of my best friends Paul Caetano!
