I shot this terrific video from the navigating bridge of my ship during our routine crossing of the Bay of Bengal from Calcutta to Colombo. It was wen Cyclone Nargis was 50 miles to our southwest. The sea was Beaufort scale 8 which means wind speed upto 60 knots. We could only average bout 5 knots, a shame for a 20 knot ship. This kind of weather lasted for 4 days.

  • Not Beaufort 10 in my opinion, or even close. Crests arent marked nor can you see crest waves being swept apart by the gusts of wind.

As far as I can see, the sea was rough enough, but not Beaufort 10.

Still, better than average video. but not quite as panoramic as should have been taken.

  • nice one thank you!
