John Wayne rules!

One of the best clips on Youtube.
But how many of Todays so called "stars" ever speak like this?
We seem to have lost so much since the Duke finally went West.

Wayne was already too old to be draftet, Clark Gable also was too old but Gable insisted he wanted to fight and became a soldier) James Stewart was draftet but was found to skinny so Stewart made a special training to gain pounds so he could join the army. British actors David Niven and Peter Cushing had first Hollywood contracts returned to England to enlist.
John Wayne certainly was not a coward, he made his own stunts and worked with dangerous animals. Maybe he just did not want to kill.

John Wayne was a devout coward.

nobody is better than the duke

John Wayne would've made a better president Ronald Reagan because John Wayne was down-to-earth and a real man.

According to Gary Wills’ book “John Wayne’s America,” the man who portrayed the archetypal, battle-hardened Marine, Sgt. Stryker, in 1949’s “The Sands of Iwo Jima,” actually avoided the draft during WWII. Wills contends that the Duke did not reply to letters from the Selective Service system, and applied for deferments. Apparently, Wayne got his big break during the struggle against fascism when many Hollywood action heroes like Tyrone Power enlisted and shipped out overseas.

@davidk4616 I called one of my uncle's a coward for not enlisting in WWII once when I was about 6, he had 3 boys by then and I repeated that BOTH my parents enlisted in WWII so why didn't he...his response was one glassy eyed staredown...but his youngest son, my Cousin David, was priceless!
YEAH, DAD, WHY NOT?
