Clips of Shin-kyokushin karate star fighter Valeri Dimitrov of Bulgaria, showing one of his favorite techniques. Although the technique does not have any standardized name in kyokushin, I have chosen to call it Gedan soto kakato geri, as it is a perfect explanation of what it is (low inward heel kick). Im sure other would prefer other names.
Its a strange little technique that is a lot more effective than it looks. Done right, it hurts like h**l!
You can do if you can get away with it.

Don't you love keyboard warriors disrespecting someone with the training and competitive success if Sensei Dimitrov. I think it is not meant for street but if Dimitrov did it there his attacker would feel a world of pain. Osu and respect to a great Budoka

Lol... this kick isnt ment to be used on the street , you should know that.On street fights there are only elwbows knees Front kick and all that in the head..there are no Back kicks or Kakato gedan or ushiro mawashi or DO MAWASHI.. only trained people can use does things but does who are not... and btw in Tournaments this kick is very helpful cuz it saves alot of energy, deals big damage to the opponent and its easy to do

@GetDamage In the streets punches, elbows, knees and direct forward kicks would be used with very fast return of the limb. This kick is simply hard to detect for trained people and is designed to give you advantage not Ichi Geki.

I don't like this kick. The opponent can easily scoop underneath the leg and dip you own your head. In the streets, that can be lethal.
