Adding places to Google Maps

In Google Maps, you can add any place that does not already appear on the map. From your favorite town square to little-known landmarks, make sure everyone can find the places most important to you.

It worked for me. But you have to use the 'search' box on the map page. Then when the results appear, zoom to the location where you want to add a place. THEN scroll to the bottom of the suggested results and the link to 'add new place' will be down there. Positioning the marker is quirky and not intuitive, but it does work.

BUT after all that, the inputs are screened and potentially rejected. So, no putting "your ass" all over the place.
