Great style. I heard her long time ago. I'm glad you post it. I'm making me a nice little sentimental playlist. Thank you for sharing . . .
BTW - Which one was her greatest hit, do you know?
Thanks again,
Marco.-

Johnny Mandel composed this great song, a fine song for a female singer. It reminds me a bit of another one he did, 'A Time For Love,' which is a personal favorite.
Lena & Sinatra were scheduled to record a three-album record, back in 1983, produced by Quincy Jones. Hearing this makes me so sad that project never happened. I've seen the songs, many of them duets. Would have been great. Even though they were each great when they were a bit younger, this would have been close enough for love.

@trooper7h Agree! No one could pull this off but Streisand.

Hands down--Patti Brooks singing "Close Enough For Love" at the end of the movie "Agatha" is something I would recommend everyone to experience. It may be one of the most beautiful combinations of voice and orchestration one will ever hear. Without a doubt, the hard to find Patti Brooks version of this song is out of this world.

@Shubael1809 I've just downloaded through EMULE the original version sung by Patti Brooks for the soundtrack to 1979's "AGATHA", staring Vanessa Redgrave and Dustin Hoffman. I love the picture and the song is beautiful!!! Try with emule!!

Mmm ...nice version . A very different take on Peggy Les' version . Lena always sounds like a lady seriously in charge!! Peggys sounds more wistful and gentler .

I encourage you to rent to movie. Hoffman and Redgrave are at teh top of their game and the movie is haunting.
As Patti Brooks sings Close Enough for Love at the end you'll just keep replaying it it's so beautiful.

I can't recall when last I heard this rendition. it is just perfect.
Thanks again.

Corrie121,
After hearing Lena's version I cannot imaging anyone else - except possibly Barbra Streisand - singing this song with so much heart.
Thank you for your interest and comment.:)

This song was written by Johnny Mandel for the movie "Agatha" and sung for that film by Patti Brooks.
It's (far and away) the best version ever done of it. I've never been able to find a soundtrack to "Agatha" (1979). I encourage you to rent the movie to hear it as the closing credits roll.

You are very lucky to have seen Lena live.
I would have liked to have had the privilege - especially when she was young...She was a magnificent performer...
Thank you for your comments. :)
