  • I actually tried to dodge the delays by sticking to the old GI bill for this semester. This is my 3rd semester. I applied for benefits for this semester in June and still have not seen any check. On the VA web page, it shows that my paperwork has not been processed yet. I paid $5700 out of pocket. This semester is almost over and I still haven't seen anything from the VA. I have been trying for 6 weeks to contact the VA, but I get the same voice recording that you all know of.

  • I've been certified by my school since 12AUG. If I don't get paid by 05OCT, I'm on the streets. Point blank. I have no more money.

  • I am having a problem they have my claim and they are been working on it but i haven't got anything yet they received my claim October 14th and now its November 17 any answers please email me leonhodge83@yahoo.com

  • Does anyone know if they are doing the up to 3,000 dollar check thing for the spring of 2010? The VA rep of the school i am going to seems to know nothing of this new GI Bill. Other schools seem to be on the ball with it. But of course i am closest to graduating with the school where the VA rep knows nothing. So my situation is scary and i found out about the 10 to 12 weeks wait period, so that check would be a blessing. Thanks.

  • Best of luck everyone. I hope you all get the chance to use this bill. I would love to be able to use the bill....and was banking on it to provide for my living expenses, but now I'm not so sure. I'm surprised at how few people are making noise about this issue because it seems that no one is getting paid the way they should be.

  • I applied a month ago. Just got a letter from the VA telling me they received my claim. I really really really hope everything goes through smoothly.

  • Same here. Ive been waiting on these benefits for almost 3 months. Im starting to wish I kept the chapter 31 GI Bill because I actually got a check from that one. Been broke for over a month waiting on this new compensation.

  • Starting Oct 2nd you can go to a VA regional office and receive up to $3000 advance payment. Go to gibill. va. gov for more info.
