Information & Trivia
--------------------------------------
- Episode #85: "Galactor's Deadly Trap" (Pilot) (1986)

- Original "Science Ninja Team Gatchaman" Episode: #87; "Patogiller, The Triple Combined Iron Beast" (1974)

- Original U.S airdate (Cartoon Network): Wednesday, April 12, 1995.

This is the second of two pilot episodes to "G-Force: Guardians of Space" (1986), itself the second of three English translations of Tatsunoko Productions' "Science Ninja Team Gatchaman" (1972), following "Battle of the Planets" (1978) and preceding ADV Film's uncut Gatchaman release (2005). Unlike most shows, whose pilot episodes are often their first episodes, the producers behind "G-Force" selected two out-of-order "Gatchaman" episodes as the pilots for this adaptation, with "The Whale Submarine" ("G-Force" and "Gatchaman" Episode 18) being the first pilot and this episode (Episode 85, originally "Gatchaman" Episode 87) being the second (and the last episode of the "G-Force" dub ironically).

The pilots to "G-Force" are unique amongst the rest of its episodes for having replaced all of the original Gatchaman music with new music composed by Dean Andre (who composed the show's theme song), which was part of a proposed original music score that would've completely replaced the symphonic, 1970's "Gatchaman" score with a then-modern, synthesized score. Due to budget constraints, the new score wasn't utilized beyond the pilots and was left on the cutting room floor, with the rest of G-Force's episodes retaining most of the "Gatchaman" score, supplementing it with a repetitive instrumental during silent moments in the soundtrack (a practice known as "fill-in music").

  • where can i find the last episode in english on youtube

  • @Xtreme7702 For the "G-Force" version (the one I've uploaded to my account), THIS IS the last episode of this English dub. For the ADV English dub of the original Gatchaman, which translated all 105 episodes ("G-Force" only translated 85), just search for "Gatchaman 105" and it should come up.

  • Jun's hot.

  • That she is. Out of all the voice actors who voiced the character of Jun (Janet "Judy Jetson" Waldo in "Battle of the Planets, Barbara Goodson in "G-Force", and Kim Prause in the uncut ADV dub of Gatchaman) I liked Goodson's take on her the most. Youthful, yet sultry. The other two sounded too high-pitched and whiney. Anybody can compare and contrast themselves, as the BotP/Gatchaman counterparts to my "G-Force" episodes are all up here on YT!!!

  • I don't think I've heard how she sounds in the ADV uncut version yet, but I heard her original japanese voice, and I didn't like it! She sounded like a child.

  • Search for "Gatchaman 87" to find the original Japanese version of this episode, both sub and uncut ADV dub.

    Haha...where's Dr. Evil?

  • I'm a big fan of G-force i use to watch it as a kid but for some reason this episode i remember even if i didn't see the whole episode as a kid and now finally saw it

  • wow, this was made in what? the 80s? and japan was already spaming loli at us (>.<)

  • thank yoiu for putting this up, havn't seen this in like forever, used to watch this show almost everyday

  • Its a practice often used in (TV edited) anime dubs: "fill-in" music, in which dubbers fill in silent moments in the original show's soundtrack with new music, to "keep the pace going".

This pilot episode is the closest representation of what the rest of the "G-Force" episodes would've been like, had the project not faced budget and time constraints. Seeing as there's a big difference between the symphonic Gatch music and the synthy "G-Force" music, its better that they kept one or the other.
