Worlds largest polar bear habitat opens at the Columbus Zoo.

Jack Hanna was on hand Thursday at the grand opening ceremony of the Polar Frontier exhibit which shows animals from the Arctic Circle

It is thought to be the best habitat for polar bears on the world. It contains a 1.32 acre yard with pools. Visitors can see the bears at eye level and underwater.

The Columbus Zoo is the countrys number one zoo and this new area should secure title of Number One Zoo in America once again for the Columbus Zoo.

The Battelle Icebear Outpost is the chief interpretative center for the Polar Frontier. The Nationwide Insurance Polar Playground is great for the children.

Aurora and Anana are twin three-year-old sisters polar bears. Brutus and Buckeye, Alaskan brown bear brothers, moved to the new enclosure.

Bears filmed at the Columbus and Cincinnati zoos.

  • WTF was that croc dundee?!

  • I went yesterday, and it was great. The polar bears were so cute, and my kids loved it!

  • Jack Hanna may be a great showman, but he's a bit short on his facts. I visited Columbus' new exhibit, and found that it was less than 1/2 the size of the Arctic Ring of Life exhibit at the Detroit Zoo. That exhibit is about 4 acres (compared to 1.3 at Columbus) and features a 300,000 gallon salt water pool (twice the size). Visitors there view the bears underwater from a 70-foot-long Plexiglas tunnel, not a small glass room. Columbus has a nice exhibit, but it doesn't compare to Detroit's

  • As a teenager growing up in Columbus I've never viewed the zoo as such a big deal before. But apparently it's a big attraction to people because it is the #1 zoo. It kinda blows you mind knowing your zoo that you view as just a zoo can be big to people in the country.

  • where you wearing blue that day? I believe I have a picture of you taping this lol
